LHO Board
The LHO has two lines of accountability: Following the LHO’s move to Commissioning Support for London, the LHO reports to the board of CSL for work
commissioned through CSL.
As a public health observatory the LHO remains ultimately accountable to the Chief Medical Officer for its nationally commissioned work.
This work continues to be overseen by the LHO Board. The LHO Board is independent and its membership is drawn from key partner organisations in London.
The main role of the LHO Board is therefore to provide guidance and strategic direction in the development and delivery of this programme of work.
The work of the public health observatories as a whole is overseen by a steering group, set up by the Department of Health as the sponsor for the Association of Public
Health Observatories (APHO). The APHO steering group is chaired by David Harper on behalf of the Chief Medical Officer and meets twice a year.
