HIN Conference
Health intelligence network meeting 20 July 2011 – Aligning quality improvement to population health: tobacco control and COPD
The HIN meeting was held as collaboration between the London Health Observatory and the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Collaboration for Leadership in Applied Health Research and Care (CLAHRC) for Northwest London.
The meeting brought together those involved in public health, tobacco control and COPD service delivery to discuss the quality improvement agenda in relation to population health.
Presentations were made by:

- Helen Munro Wild (LHO) and Caroline Wright (Clinical & Health Intelligence): Introduction to Health Profiles (COPD and Tobacco Control profiles)
- Cathy Howe (NIHR CLAHRC for Northwest London): COPD across Northwest London: An introduction to CLAHRC projects
- Dr Louise Restrick/ Dr Noel Baxter (London Respiratory Team Leads, NHS London) Improving the experience of Londoners with COPD

Health intelligence network meeting 14 February 2011 – Primary care intelligence
This meeting focused on Primary care intelligence with presentations on the APHO GP Practice Profiles, a look at the Islington ACS profiles and COPD and a GP’s view.

Health intelligence network meeting 20 October 2008 – Practice profiles
The first half of this meeting looked at practice profiles with presentations on the LHO’s London profiles and how Croydon PCT’s practice profiles have been useful to general practitioners.

Health intelligence network meeting 31 October 2007 - Supporting health intelligence in London
The meeting examined the issue of achieving an integrated regional health intelligence function
and investigated ways of developing the health intelligence network.

Health Intelligence Network Meeting July 2006 - Performance Management Framework in London
Contributers included
- John Hamm (North West London SHA) discussing recent developments in London and future plans
- Hiten Dodhia (Lambeth PCT) looking at Performance Management from a PCT Perspective.
- Heather Grimbaldeston (Manchester SHA) presenting on the system that has been developed in the North West of England which has led to improved performance.
Health Intelligence Network Meeting May 2006 - Building Knowledge for the Future
The event discussed the Department of Health White Paper Informing Healthier Choices: Information and Intelligence for Healthy Populations and looked current issues in London.

This Health Intelligence Network Meeting was held on 28th September 2005 at the King's Fund.
The overall aims of the conference were:
- To look at and discuss examples of of community profiles
- To discuss which indicators should be part of community profiles
The conference was designed to cover a wide range of public sector services including local authority and NHS services. The event was chaired by Stephen Farrow, Consultant in public health.
Health Intelligence Network Meeting October 2004 - Diabetes and the GMS
This Health Intelligence Network Meeting was held on 11th October 2004 at the King's Fund. The event was carried out in partnership with Yorkshire
and Humber Public Health Observatory.
The overall aims of the conference were:
- To promote the use of diabetes prevalence model
- Promote the sources of diabetes data
- To explain the relationship between the GMS and Diabetes data
The conference was designed to cover a wide range of public sector services including local authority and NHS services.
The event was chaired by Dr Bobbie Jacobson, Director of the LHO.
Health Intelligence Network Meeting May 2004 - Cancer Intelligence
This Health Intelligence Network Meeting was held on 4th May 2004 at the King's Fund. The event was carried out in partnership with Thames Cancer Registry.
The overall aims of the conference were:
- To promote the use of cancer data
- To promote sources of cancer data
The conference was designed to cover a wide range of public sector services
including local authority and NHS services. The event was chaired by Dr Bobbie Jacobson, Director of the LHO.
