Sharing Knowledge and Information in London
London houses many datasets and databases created by or for individual organisations, such as those obtained by academics undertaking
specific research projects, or data obtained routinely by commercial, statutory, or voluntary organisations or their staff but not usually
available to others. In addition, many so called routine data sources such as those held by partners such as the police and local
authorities, are not easily available alongside health sources. Many are only used by their owners but contain data relevant to
public health. Some of the data contained in these systems could provide vital public health intelligence to local health organisations
and London as a whole.
The LHO’s SKIL Programme - Sharing Knowledge and Information in London - is supported by five years’
R&D funding. SKIL’s overall aim is to identify and develop agreed means of widening access to such data.
