Sandwell scarf charts
This document highlights the key issues that spearhead areas need to address to meet the life expectancy element of the Government’s Health Inequalities target. The underlying causes of the life expectancy gap are shown in “scarf” charts. The causes of the gap in each area is shown compared to those for the spearhead areas of England as a whole – in some areas there are big differences. The intervention tool will allow you to see the impact of smoking cessation, case finding (and treatment) for hypertension and reductions in infant mortality on both life expectancy and all age all cause mortality.
