Preoperative smoking cessation: a model to estimate potential short term health gain and reductions in length of stayThis report builds on the litereature review published in early 2005 on the impact of preoperative smoking scessation on the outcomes of surgery.  It models the effects of a systematic preoperative smoking cessation intervention for elective surgical patients for all London PCTs and for all London acute hospital trusts.  The technical details of the model are included.
